Fly Fishing 101 Individual Lessons

This is our basic fly fishing lesson designed for individuals or small groups up to 4 anglers. We'll teach you everything from understanding the gear and why we use it, to teaching you how to properly present the fly in the right spots and hopefully how to fight and land a fish. Our Simple approach to the basics of fly fishing will provide you with the skills needed in fly fishing. The river we do our lessons on depends on how many people attend.

Class Details

• Tackle and Gear basics
• Casting introduction and practice
• Types of flies and how and when to fish them
• basic entomology - identifying stream insects and how to match the hatch
• Learn prime trout holding and feeding areas and learn how to read the water
• Learn and practice the best presentations such as Dry Fly, Nymphing, Wet Fly and Streamer fishing.

Rates:

4 hour lesson:  1 angler $140.00........each additional angler $50.00 .. Max 4

8 hour lesson:  1 angler $240.00.......each additional angler $50.00  .. Max 4

We are able to guide and teach larger groups up to 12 anglers.. Call for quote.

Fly Fishing 101 Class..

Everything is the same as above but this is done as a class of 4 to 6 anglers on the water. Everyone is welcome regardless of your skill level. This class is about 8 hours long and done on the Grand river in Fergus. Limited spots are available... Max 6 anglers

Fly Fishing 102

If you already have some experience with a fly rod then this is the next step that that will help you improve your skills. It's designed for individuals or small groups that want to go beyond the basics and learn more advanced techniques to help you increase your catch rate. If you're a first year angller or a 15 year veteran looking to improve on your skills we will help you improve in the areas you neeed it. What we do is go fish. Yep, that's what I said... We hit one of my fishing spots and I'll asses your current skills based on what I see and then show you where you can improve and provide you with tips and  ideas to help you become a much better angler. Unless you have a specific technique you are looking to improve on I'll cover Nymphing, Dry Fly, Wet Fly and Streamer techniques and if needed we can work on your casting... This is very hands on and chances are you'll be landing some fish.. I'll even show you some advanced techniques that will catch you more fish the next time you get on the water.. Also I'm flexible so tell me where you would like to improve and we can focus on just that..

All gear can be provided at no additional charge.

Advanced Nymphing Class...

This is our most popular class for anglers that already have some basic nymphing skills. This class goes way beyond the basic nymphing techniques and covers some of the advanced techniques used by the Canadian, USA and European national fly fishing teams. Some of these techniques have been used to win many fly fishing competitions and are guaranteed to increase your catch rate for trout and steelhead on any river. This year we're doinng the class earlier. We will be on the credit river in Mississauga and you have a chance of catching some steelhead.

This class covers six nymphing styles and is about 6 to 8 hours long. There is room for 6 anglers and is on a first come basis. 2010 and 2011 classes booked up fast so don't miss out and book now.

Centerpin Lessons

This may be a first for any guide shop or any guide in Ontario but it's not a first for us. We've been teaching beginner techniques and the finer points of Centerpin fishing to Ontario anglers for years. This is a great way for beginners and intermediate anglers to learn how to float fish effectively and dramatically increase their catch rate.

There are reasons why some guys catch all the fish. I see it all the time. One guy standing in a pool with 4 or 5 other guys and he catches 80% of the fish, Why? is it luck? is it a better bait? is it his set-up? Somtimes times it's all of those things combined. We teach you the techniques that will increase your catch rate and show you the things the other dont know.

We've been centerpin fishing for almost 20 years, long before centerpin fishing was even considered by most river anglers in Ontario and our experience with a float rod can help you become a betterCenterpin angler.

Trophy Brown Trout Lesson

This is a unique lesson for individuals or small groups up to 4 anglers. Every river has it's it big wise trout and these are the very fish guys hope to catch everytime they hit the water. I'll be giving away my big fish secrets that have caught me my trophy trout over 25". This lesson focuses on techniques for finding and catching brown trout 18" or bigger on any river.

• Big fish habits

• Where they live and where they eat

• Search techniques and best search patterns

• Multiple methods for different situations

• Seasonal movements and feeding patterns
